Employees of Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of immediate operative-search measures and investigative activities, arrested J.S. (DoB 1991) and G.Z. (DoB 1983).
J.S. is accused of premeditated murder committed in group and illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms, while G.Z. is arrested for providing false information.
The crime committed by J.S. envisions up to 20 years or life imprisonment, while crime committed by G.Z envisions imprisonment from 3 to 7 years.
The investigation established that late at night on February 18 of the current year, J.S. had an argument with his friend - M.L. in a caf-bar. Later on, J.S. approached M.L. on Chavchavadze street once again along with his friends. Detainee deliberately inflicted multiple lethal wounds with a firearm to M.L. and fled from the scene with his companions.
Through the investigation, it was also established that G.Z. – a friend of both parties, witnessed the shooting, who provided the law enforcers with false information on purpose during the interrogation and thus obstructed to justice.
Law enforcement officers detained J.S. and G.Z. as a suspects as a result of immediate activities.
The police seized the weapon of crime as evidence.
In order to identify and arrest others involved in crime, appropriate operational and investigative actions are underway.
On the facts of premeditated murder committed in group under the aggravating circumstances, illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and for providing investigation with false information, investigation is in progress under articles 109, 236 and 370 envisioned by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
